Subthemes of the Exposition

The subthemes proposed by the organizers are:

1.      The fusion of cultures in the city

– from the very beginning, the city was a mix of separate cultures. In the period of city development, such factors as military conflicts, trade, migration, caused creation of a multi-cultural community, shaping in effect an exceptional city character.

2.     Economic prosperity in the city

– urban prosperity is usually a result of favorable location, wealth of natural resources and human creativity. Although trade and industry development are the driving force behind city growth, it is necessary to maintain ecological equilibrium.

3.     Scientific and technological innovations in the city

– the 20th century brought fast technological development, which enabled vast urbanization. The improvement of daily life achieved at that time is most noticeable in cities. Taking advantage of these achievements, one should bear in mind that science and technology are not omnipotent and do not serve conquering of nature, but are a catalyst in symbiosis of man with nature. Cities – perspective of scientific-technological development – city scientific centers – technological development.

4.     Remodeling urban communities

– inhabitants are the basis for urban existence. Only a content city community can create a sound and harmonious city. Organization and reorganization of city communities are always the most urgent tasks of city administrators.

5.     Interactions between urban and rural areas

– development of cities has greatly burdened the rural economy. At the same time, the influx of immigration from rural areas can pose a threat for city administrators. Proper control of migration, management of flows of funds, goods and information is the key to harmonious and synchronized development of both the city and the country.
